The 37th Annual Red Lady Salvation Ball returns to Crested Butte with a new twist

Kick up your heels for a Wild West Ball!

March 14, 2014 – (Crested Butte) – The High Country Citizens Alliance is thrilled to host the 37TH ANNUAL RED LADY SALVATION BALL on March 15th from 7 pm to 1 am at the Old Powerhouse Building in Crested Butte (130 Elk Ave). This year’s ball will transport you to the rough-n-tumble days of the Wild West. So, pull on your cowboy boots, buckles and hats, dust-off your best red attire, and join us for a true hootenanny.

Keeping up the energy of last year’s Red Lady Ball, the 37th Annual will feature a host of performers and activates to entice attendees all evening long. The evening will flow as follows:

  • 7 – 8:30 pm – Honey Grass cocktail hour with complimentary appetizers from Mountain Oven and an amazing silent auction.
  • 8:30 – 10 pm – Contra Dancing led by professional callers Carol and Randy Barnes (from Buena Vista) and Simpler Times Bluegrass.
  • 10 pm – 1 am – Dance Party, Raffle and crowning of the 37th Annual Red Lady with music by the Red Lady Ramblers.
  • *The Red Lady Announcement will happen sometime between 11 pm to 12 Midnight.

An all-star cast of local musicians, including members of Free the Honey, Mine Control, Simpler Times Bluegrass and more, will appear as the Red Lady Ramblers. Arielists from the Crested Butte Dance Collective will spin from the ceiling, and contra dancing with a professional caller will be part of the evening.

Come early for complimentary appetizers prepared by Mountain Oven, drinks from Montanya Rum and Elevation Beer Company, and a fabulous silent auction. Stay for the dance party, raffle and crowning of the 37th Red Lady.

There are TWO ticket options this year!

$15 gets you in the door, and for $30 you get a 1-yr. HCCA membership, adult beverage from Montanya Rum or Elevation Beer Company and souvenir drinking vessel!

Tickets will be available at Townie Books (404 Elk Ave.) in Crested Butte until 4 on Saturday, and then at the door . Raffle tickets will be available in front of the Crested Butte Post Office 11 am to 1 pm daily, until the day of the ball.

Due to the new layout of the Powerhouse Building, guests will be able to enjoy a huge dance floor, and the maximum capacity of the venue has expanded substantially (from last year). Plus, look for a Western-themed photo-booth and a merry-menagerie of mood makers to get you in the Western Spirit.

All funds raised from the Red Lady Salvation Ball go to keeping Mt. Emmons mine-free forever.

There are over 36 Silent Auction items this year!

Including: massages, acupuncture, ortho-bionomy, stays at Avalanche Ranch, Box Canyon Lodge and Baxter Ranch, certificates for dining at The Sunflower Supper and Brick Cellar, river trips, jewelry and art from local artists, and MORE! Come early and don’t miss-out, the silent auction ends at 9 pm.
