The board and staff of High Country Conservation Advocates are extremely happy to announce one of our own, Brett Henderson, as HCCA’s new Executive Director.  Brett started at HCCA in September 2010 as an Administrator and Outreach Coordinator, and became HCCA’s Finance Director in 2012.  He brings a strong business and administrative background to the organization.  Brett received his first bachelor’s degree in photography from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, and a second bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting from Western State in Gunnison.

While at Western, Brett fell in love with the Gunnison Country’s vast public lands, which has developed into a passion for exploring the American West.  In his spare time, Brett’s an avid angler, bow hunter, backpacker, and landscape and wildlife photographer.

“For the last six years, Brett has shown his dedication to HCCA’s mission and has helped stabilize and grow the organization tremendously,” said HCCA board President Sandy Shea. “Brett has always gone the extra mile for HCCA, including modernizing and maintaining all our internal systems, designing our website, and generously donating his photography for HCCA purposes. Brett has already given HCCA so much,” said Sandy, “and we’re delighted he’s decided to take over the reins as E.D.!”

“I am honored to have the opportunity to continue moving the organization forward as HCCA’s Executive Director,” said Brett. “It is a very exciting time for HCCA!  Between the organization’s internal chemistry and the variety of important issues we work on as we enter our 40th year, I’m looking forward to 2017.”

“I’m also looking forward to hearing from our members about how we are doing,” said Brett.  “If you have any suggestions concerning what we could be doing to better serve our mission, please drop me a line at brett@hccacb.org.”

If you have not already received an invitation, HCCA is hosting its annual meeting Sunday, September 11, 2016 at The Depot. We will be having a meat and veggie BBQ outdoors and attendants will be able to tour our newly renovated offices.

We hope you will join us in welcoming Brett to his new appointment as we enter our 40th year of Protecting Why You Love It Here!
