In fall of 2015, our community began a discussion about how we use our public lands for winter recreation. There are a number of perspectives to this discussion, and High Country Conservation Advocates has been following the dialogue.

HCCA is committed to protecting the conservation values articulated in our mission statement. We will not be engaging in the winter travel issue at this time, as there is neither a proposal for us to examine nor a formal process in which we might participate.

We encourage thoughtful and considerate community discussions that lead to meaningful engagement from all aspects of our community when the Forest Service does initiate the public planning process for its Forest Plan revision. As with any issue, should we participate then, we would address matters of environmental concern.
