Antelope Creek Wet Meadow Project

Join High Country Conservation Advocates on Saturday, September 26, National Public Lands Day, for a day of wet meadow restoration in partnership with the Upper Gunnison River Water Conservancy District, the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, and the Bureau of Land Management.

Volunteers will work alongside project partners on Antelope Creek to build Zeedyk rock structures that restore critical wet meadows for wildlife habitat, water conservation, and an overall healthier watershed. The Zeedyk technique involves strategically placing rock structures to act as grade controls. These structures help minimize erosion, raise the water table, and support the plants and insects that wildlife depend on. By slowing and spreading the flow of water, each structure helps restore the natural function of the landscape.
