Town Ranch Wetland Restoration Project
Join HCCA and the Town of Crested Butte for a volunteer restoration workday on Town Ranch in Crested Butte on Saturday, August 29 from 8:30 AM to 2 PM. Volunteers will work to restore critical wetlands along the Slate River to build a healthier, more resilient watershed.

About the event
Join High Country Conservation Advocates and the Town of Crested Butte for a volunteer restoration workday on Town Ranch in Crested Butte.
On Saturday, August 29, volunteers will help restore a section of the Slate River wetland by reinforcing existing attenuation structures through reweaving willows, bolstering them with sod, and completing other restoration tasks. Volunteers will also assist with removing sections of fencing to reduce habitat fragmentation and improve wildlife movement.
Wetlands are essential to the health of the Gunnison Country as they act like natural sponges, storing snowmelt and slowly releasing water throughout the summer and fall. This helps maintain streamflows during dry periods, reduces erosion, improves water quality, and provides critical habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. By restoring these wetlands, we're helping build a healthier, more resilient watershed.
