We’re proud to share that Jon Hare, Advocacy Director at High Country Conservation Advocates, was recently elected to serve on the Sustainable Tourism & Outdoor Recreation (STOR) Committee with Gunnison County.

Formed in 2018, the STOR Committee brings together land managers, trails organizations, tourism professionals, local businesses, and city and county officials to foster collaboration across sectors, aiming to balance outdoor recreation with conservation in the Gunnison Country.

With increasing visitor and resident use of our public lands, forests, watersheds, and wildlife habitats, this collaborative roundtable is essential for aligning strategies and sharing stewardship solutions. The committee meets regularly to discuss shared priorities, coordinate projects, and plan for sustainable recreation that protects our natural assets.

Jon’s election to STOR strengthens our voice at the table and amplifies HCCA’s ongoing efforts to ensure that the conservation of our public lands, waters and wildlife remains a high priority amid the growth in tourism and outdoor activity in the Gunnison Country.
