We keep with tradition, and hike up this beautiful valley in the Raggeds Wilderness (that HCCA helped designate) to a lovely lunch spot with spectacular views. A perfect end to our 33rd season of HCCA Hikes!

Getting there is relatively easy—coming back is all uphill, so be prepared for the climb.

A relatively short hike with some climbing gets us to spectacular views of the Elk Mountains and an altitude of 12,200 ft. Please be fully acclimated for your health and enjoyment.

Jul 19, 2025, 8:30 AM – 2:00 PMCentennial State Wildlife Area, Gunnison, CO 81230, USABackcountry Hunters & Anglers is joined by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Upper Gunnison River Water Conservancy District, and Pact Outdoors for their 5th Annual Sportsperson Wet Meadow Restoration Project held on July 19th at 8:30 am in the Centennial State Wildlife Area west of Gunnison.
